Everything you’ll do. All of it included.

VIScovery is built around movement. Not the kind that requires training or prior experience — we do the kind that puts you in extraordinary places all around the island of VIS and lets the place do the work. Every activity below is included in your week. Nothing is an extra. Nothing needs booking. Just show up.

On the water

Sea kayaking               included · guided · all levels

The coastline of Vis is best seen from the water — limestone cliffs, hidden sea caves, coves that don’t appear on any tourist map. We kayak along routes that take you places a boat can’t reach and a path doesn’t exist for: into narrow cave openings, around headlands, past water so clear the colour seems invented.

All equipment is provided. No experience is necessary — we’ll brief you properly before you get in, and the guides are in the water with you throughout. First-timers and experienced paddlers both find something in it.

Fitness level: Moderate — comfortable paddling for 2–3 hours
Minimum age: 8 years
Equipment: Kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid, dry bag — all provided
When: Multiple sessions across the week

Blue lagoon beach with kayak

Open-water swimming          included · daily · everywhere

This is less an activity and more a way of life for the week. The water around Vis is some of the cleanest in the Adriatic — cold, clear, and a shade of blue that makes you want to get in every time you see it.

Every day involves swimming. Some of it is structured — at the Blue Lagoon, off the kayak, at Stiniva. Most of it is spontaneous. The beaches near the house are five minutes’ walk. The sea is always there.

Fitness level: Any — all depths and distances are optional
Minimum age: No minimum with parental supervision
Equipment: Snorkelling gear available if you want it

Snorkelling                  included · guided · equipment provided

Vis has been inhabited for 2,500 years. Some of that history is still visible beneath the surface — around the peninsula of Prirovo, you’ll swim above the outlines of what may be Greek and Roman ruins in shallow, clear water. It’s not a managed dive site. It’s just there, in the sea, if you know where to look.

We also snorkel at the Blue Lagoon and various stops during the kayak days — wherever the water is clear enough to make it worthwhile, which on Vis is most places.

Fitness level: Easy — no diving or breath-holding required
Minimum age: 8 years
Equipment: Mask, fins and snorkel provided

Cliff jumping                           included · optional · guided

Optional — but most people jump. We know the spots: clean entry points, deep water below, the right height for the right level of nerve. We’ve spent years finding the best ones and ruling out the ones that aren’t worth it.

There’s no pressure. There’s also no better feeling on the island than standing on a rock above clear blue water and deciding to go. The guides jump first.

Fitness level: Any — heights vary, all are swimmer-safe
Minimum age: 8 years with parental consent
Safety: Full briefing before every jump, guides in the water

On the LAND

Guided hiking                          included · guided · various routes

The interior of Vis is almost entirely unknown to tourists. Terraced hillsides, ancient stone walls, abandoned hilltop fortifications with views across the Adriatic that take the words right out of you. Our guides know paths you won’t find on any published map.

The centrepiece of the week’s hiking is the descent to Stiniva — voted Europe’s most beautiful beach in 2018. The path down is steep and worth every step. Views from the top are the kind that make people stop talking mid-sentence. The walk back will be short and steep/sweet.

Fitness level: Moderate — routes vary from 1 to 3 hours
Minimum age: 8 years
Footwear: Sturdy trainers or hiking shoes recommended
Highlights: Stiniva descent, hilltop fortress, coastal viewpoints

Stiniva Vis Croatia

Morning exercise and swim                           included · daily · all levels

Every morning, before the day begins properly. Not a gym class, not a yoga session — something more practical and more enjoyable than either. A structured session designed to wake you up, warm you up, and make everything that follows feel earned.

Sessions are adapted to the group. On some days they’re on the terrace; on others, they start in the water. The point is to start the day with your body already involved.

Fitness level: All levels — sessions are adapted to the group
Duration: 30–45 minutes
When: Every morning, before breakfast

Cycling                         included · guided

Vis is manageable by bike — small enough to cross in under two hours, varied enough to make the route interesting. The island’s roads take you through vineyards, past old stone houses, along coastal stretches with sea on both sides.

Standard bikes are available for guests who want to explore at their own pace — Vis is not flat but it opens up routes that don’t require more effort than a holiday should involve.

Fitness level: Easy to moderate
Minimum age: 10 years for independent cycling
Equipment: Bikes, helmets, route suggestions — all provided
Routes: Coastal loop, vineyard route, cross-island

Komiža town and Vis town scavenger hunt         included · families and groups

Komiža — the old fishing town on the western side of the island. We run a scavenger hunt through the town’s harbourfront and narrow streets: a way of learning the place properly rather than just walking through it. Clues lead you to the best corners, the oldest buildings, the spots that reward paying attention. We do the same thing in Vis town, the oldest town in Croatia.

After the hunt: the challenge of Komiža’s seven beaches. All swimmable. All on the same stretch of coastline. All worth ticking off. And swimming in Prirovo in Vis town. Priceless.

Suitable for: All ages — particularly good for families and groups
Duration: 2–3 hours including beaches

OPTIONAL EXTRAS (NOT INCLUDED)

If you want more

Day 5 is your free day — and for those who want adventure beyond the included programme, we have suggestions. None of these are necessary. All of them are worth considering.

Discovery scuba dive   optional  · extra cost

The waters around Vis have barely been explored. A discovery dive — no certification required — takes you down into water that few people ever see. Vis sits on the edge of some of the deepest water in the Adriatic. The dive instructors we work with are the best on the island.

Experience required: None — full instruction included
Minimum age: 10 years
Booking: We arrange it — let us know at the start of the week

Blue Cave, Biševo       optional · extra cost

The Blue Cave on the neighbouring island of Biševo is one of the natural wonders of the Adriatic. Sunlight enters through an underwater opening between 11am and noon, turning the interior a vivid, electric blue that photographers have been trying to capture since the 19th century. The photographs don’t do it justice.

A speedboat trip from Komića takes around 30 minutes. Entrance to the cave is by small boat only — you’ll drift through in silence with a small group. It’s worth arranging early in the week as spaces fill quickly in summer.

Duration: Half day including travel
Best time: Around midday for the light
Booking: We arrange — book on day 1 to secure a spot

Scooter or quad safari            optional · extra cost

The fastest way to feel like you own the island. A lap of Vis by scooter or quad takes you along coastal roads with the sea on both sides, through the island’s interior villages, past vineyards and old stone walls. Our local partners handle the rental and the route.

Minimum age: 18 for scooter/quad (driving licence required)
Duration: Half or full day

Stand-up paddleboarding   optional · any afternoon · extra cost

SUP boards are available for hire through our local partners for any free afternoon. The calm bays near the house are ideal — flat water, no current, clear enough to see the bottom. A good way to spend a slow afternoon without actually doing very little.

Fitness level: Easy — quick to learn, hard to fall off
Minimum age: 10 years

Fishing with local fishermen   optional · early morning · extra cost

Vis has a long fishing tradition — Komiža was one of the most important fishing towns in the Adriatic for centuries. A few of the island’s fishermen still go out in the traditional way, and it’s possible to join them for an early morning on the water. Not a tourist excursion. The real thing.

Start time: Before dawn — early start required
Duration: 3–4 hours on the water
Booking: Limited availability — arrange on day 1

How active do you need to be?

Honestly?

Reasonably. You don’t need to be an athlete, and nothing in the week is compulsory.

But VIScovery is built for people who want to move
— and the week is most rewarding if you engage with it fully.

If you can walk for one to two hours, paddle a kayak, and swim in open water, you’ll be fine.
If you have specific concerns — a health condition, an injury, a child with particular needs — get in touch before you book and we’ll be straight with you.

The guests who get the most out of the week are the ones who say yes to things. Not all things. Just most things.

Everything included. One price.

All activities on this page — except those marked optional — are included in the week price from €1,499 per adult in the main season or less in the other months. No extras, no supplements, nothing to book separately.
