VIScovery is a family business on the island of Vis. Viktorija Herodež Metton founded it in 2005 — not because she saw a gap in the market, but because she grew up spending every summer on this island and couldn’t imagine a better way to spend the rest of her life than sharing it with people who had never seen it before.
Her husband Dario and a small team of local guides joined along the way. They have been welcoming guests to Vis together ever since.
We are a small, local, family-run operation. Not an agency, not a platform, not a tour operator with offices in three countries. One house, four rooms, twelve guests at a time, on one island.
Viktorija has spent the majority of her life on Vis. She knows its paths, its people, its hidden coves and its history in a way that takes decades to accumulate. The guides who work with her are locals too — people who grew up here and chose to stay. When you spend a week with us, you are not being shown Vis by someone who learned about it from a guidebook.
My father first visited this island the year I was born. He fell in love with it immediately. I followed in his footsteps — and I have never really left.
We believe that the best holidays are the ones where you go somewhere properly — one place, enough time, the right people showing you around.
We believe that twelve guests is the right number. Small enough for everyone to connect, large enough for the dinner table to have real energy.
We believe that Vis — with its 2,500-year history, its UNESCO Geopark status, its military caves and its crystal water — is one of the most extraordinary places in the Mediterranean. And that most people who visit Croatia never find it.
We believe in responsible travel: buying locally, employing locally, leaving the island in better shape than we found it. Not as a policy. As a way of living here.
If that sounds like you — we’d love to have you on Vis
We have been doing this since 2005. More than 450 guests join us every season. Some come back year after year. That, more than anything, is the review we’re proudest of.
